William S. Walker

August 10, 1931 – September 21, 2025

William S. Walker passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, September 21, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, lessons, laughter, love, and unforgettable one-liners and stories that could fill volumes.

Born on August 10, 1931, William proudly served his country as a chaplain’s assistant in the U.S. Army while stationed in England. He received an honorable discharge and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal in recognition of his dedicated service. Even then, his sharp humor and deep compassion made him a friend to many—and, occasionally, a handful to a few.

In 1956, William married, Mary Jo, beginning 53 wonderful years of marriage before her passing in 2008.

After his military service, William dedicated over 30 years to teaching in Pico Rivera, first at El Rancho High School and later at Ruben Salazar Continuation School. Known for his sharp wit, quick one-liners, and patient heart, he had a gift for making people laugh while imparting lessons that extended far beyond the classroom. He retired in 1992—but never stopped sharing wisdom (and opinions).

After the loss of Mary Jo, William found true love again with Denise Vasquez in 2009. Following a six-year courtship, they married in December 2015. Together, they shared a deep love for food, travel, and each other, journeying to Mexico City, Guaymas, Sonora, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán, and many other cherished destinations.

William had a huge passion for fishing and a deep admiration for boats. But nothing lit up his eyes quite like Disneyland — “the happiest place on earth” — where his inner kid came alive every time he walked through the gates. That same spark lit up every time he saw chocolate — anything chocolate: chocolate bars, chocolate donuts, you name it. Somewhere along the way, Denise worked her magic and converted him from an Angels fan to a Dodgers fan — a transformation he wore proudly while cheering with her during the 2020 World Championship win.

William lived fully, laughed often, and loved deeply. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and resilience that will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, former students, and all who had the good fortune of knowing him.

William will be deeply missed by his wife Denise; her brother David; her brother Mark; her sister Lily; her sister Yvonne and sister-in-law Iyo; Mother-in-law Olivia his son Kurt; daughter Traci; daughter-in-law Mary; and his beloved grandchildren Kai, Machelle, Keith, and Winter. His humor, charm, and storytelling will continue to echo in their hearts and homes.
