Timothy Van Horton

October 9, 1964 — February 25, 2026

Montebello

Timothy Van Horton, 61, fell asleep in death peacefully on February 25, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was a loving and devoted father, husband, and brother. He patiently and compassionately showed love to everyone he knew, but especially to his children and granddaughter. Above all else, Timothy was a faithful servant of Jehovah God. He loved his God Jehovah, he wanted everyone he knew to also love Jehovah, and he used every opportunity possible to share Bible truths with others.

Timothy was born in Los Angeles, CA to Dale Horton Sr. and Grace Horton. Alongside his brothers Dale Jr., Philip and his sister Gabrielle, he lived, grew up and attended school in the greater Los Angeles area. Along with his family, he briefly spent some time living in Tennessee as well. He worked at the US Postial Service for 33 years and happily retired in July of 2016.

In February of 1985, he met Damiana and they were married October 19, 1985. This union resulted in five children: Timothy Jr., Jason, Jared, Chantal and Monica. Motivated by words from his wife, he started to take seriously his study of the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. The Bible-based hope of seeing his beloved mother Grace alive and young again in Paradise on the earth, and being there with his wife and children moved him to dedicate his life to Jehovah, and on January 23, 1993, he was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He centered his life around his service to Jehovah God and raising his five children to also love and serve Jehovah.

Timothy enjoyed collecting toy cars and wearing watches. He was a loyal fan of the (formerly Oakland, now Las Vegas) Raiders. He enjoyed watching different sports with his sons and passed on to them his love for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dodgers. He enjoyed conversations with many different friends over the phone. He would enjoy listening to old school funk. He loved spending time with his granddaughter Olivia, conversing, playing Connect Four and reading the Daily Text with her. Timothy made it a priority to always be there for his children, whether it was attending a school ceremony, a dance recital, or just taking his kids bowling or to amusement parks. He took pride in being the best father he could be for his children. Even into their adulthood, he was always “our Pop”. Undoubtedly, one of his most cherished possessions was the unbreakable bond of love with his brothers, Dale Jr. and Philip.

He is survived by his wife Damiana, his children Timothy Jr., Jason, Jared, Chantal, and Monica, his brothers Dale Jr. and Philip, his sister Gabrielle, his aunt Linda, his granddaughter Olivia, his daughter-in-law, Paulina, along with other members of the family.

We, the family, consider this a temporary interruption in our time spent with Timothy. We eagerly look forward to the resurrection hope, the same hope he held onto dearly until the end of his life, the wonderful hope Jehovah has promised, in which we will all reunite as a family in the beautiful Paradise Earth soon to come. And then we will all be able to live with Timothy forever, without tears and pain, where "death will be no more." - Rev. 21:4
